Members support Madison Reading Project at annual giving event

The season of giving is here, and for our December education and giving event, PRSA Madison partnered with the Madison Reading Project to help raise funds for their annual Community Book Drive.

The Madison Reading Project is a non-profit organization servicing Madison and Dane County. It works to connect young readers with free books and literacy resources to ignite a love for reading. A dozen area public relations professionals heard from Founder & Executive Director Rowan Childs on how the organization utilizes its strong and very mobile brand image (its Big Red Reading Bus) as a public relations tool to get books in the hands of children wherever they are throughout Dane County. As a non-profit, strategic media relations and social media play a vital role in helping with fundraising efforts to further their mission. Creating additional exposure to their many local and corporate sponsors creates a win-win for both parties, amplifying the message and creating additional earned media.

Also, their annual Read(y) to Wear paper-inspired fashion show takes awareness to the next level by creating an exclusive fundraising event every summer involving Madison businesses, dignitaries and local celebrities. The attention from this event can be seen far and wide, leveraging both print and digital media.

Thank you to the Madison Reading Project for hosting the PRSA Madison Chapter and helping ignite a love of reading for Madison and Dane County children.
